The master of ceremonies plays a crucial role in ensuring any type of event runs smoothly. They are the vivacious spark that brings the event to life, the time master and the glue that holds everything together - which can sometimes involve quick wit, a dash of humour and improvisation!

It all comes down to connecting with your audience, special guests and storytelling. Luckily, as a curious conversationalist with a Journalism degree and more than a decade of media experience under my belt, these are high on my list of passions. As an MC, I want to know the story behind your event. What is it’s purpose, who are the key players, what are the key messages, and how can we interweave this into a narrative that captures the interest of your audience in an engaging way (don’t worry, by we, I mean me - you just kick back and relax)? As an MC I love to authentically engage with the audience and ensure it’s an event they won’t forget.

I’ve MC’d a range of events, such as corporate luncheons, state conferences, awards of excellence, and hospital parties for patients and families. Each event with a unique purpose, audience and story to share. Interviewing special guests and facilitating Q & A panels are some of my favourite parts of an event; it’s live, it’s raw, it’s real! To some guest speakers this can sound scary, but with the oodles of preparation, research and communication I offer prior to the event, your next guest will have nothing to fear (pinky promise!)

Not many scientists are as lucky I was to have a MC like Steph ease them into speaking to a room packed full of people. Steph met with me prior to the event, ran through the plans for the event, their goals and how best they viewed my role on the panel. Her research into my background and industry made preparation for the event a seamless task and also brought the discussion to life on the day. Steph is a capable, energetic communicator, with the rare talent of being able to connect both one on one, and also simultaneously interact with a room full of individuals. She has a bright personality and based on the positive feedback from the event will continue to amaze in her MC endeavours!

I have worked with Steph on multiple events with the Children’s Hospital Foundation, from lunches with patients and their families, special date events such as EKKA, Halloween and Christmas Carols, to events with partners and prospective donors. She is beyond professional, very well spoken, timely and organised. Steph always ensures she understands her complete role, the audience, speakers, and key messages for every event. She has gone above and beyond on each occasion and always holds herself with such professionalism, while also being relatable, friendly and fun! During one lunch event with 80 pax hospital patients and their families, we had microphone and audio issues. Steph kept her cool, using her humour, wit and professionalism to control the situation, and carry on smoothly until the problem was fixed. As an event manager you need to rely on suppliers and Steph allows everyone to feel at ease and have confidence the event will run smoothly. I know I don't have to worry about ANYTHING because Steph took care of the speakers, kept the audience engaged and allowed the event to run to time and without any hiccups.
